As a teacher, my goal is to facilitate transformative learning experiences in order to affect the paradigms through which students experience the world. My engagement with progressive pedagogies (e.g., intersectionality as pedagogy and universal design for learning) is meant to encourage students to critically analyze social realities and ultimately engage in social change efforts. Though I have strong opinions about the various topics that may be explored in my courses, I do not force any one way of thinking. Instead, students are guided through a process that helps them develop their own opinions and corresponding action agendas. I have experience and enjoy teaching about addressing social issues, conducting qualitative research, and engaging in social justice leadership.
